Susan Braverman is President of Susan Braverman Coaching & Consulting. She works with leaders at all levels of organization to develop and strengthen leadership competencies, to enhance workplace climate, and increase individual and team effectiveness. Clients have included U.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. Postal Service, Federal Emergency Management Agency, U.S. Department of Education, Department of Homeland Security, National Archives, U.S. Centers for Disease Control, and other federal agencies. She has also worked with many other public and private organizations.
Susan is a member of the International Coach Federation (ICF), and is the Past President of the Metro DC Chapter of ICF. She serves on the Independent Review Board of ICF-Global (Ethics).
Susan was a founding partner of CMG Associates (formerly Crisis Management Group, Inc.), an organization specializing in providing trauma response and workplace violence prevention to organizations of all kinds. She managed trauma-response teams and provided workplace violence risk assessments in addition to providing Employee Assistance Services to a wide range of high-risk organizations, both public and private. She consulted regularly to senior management on crisis response and organizational resiliency. She has taught crisis management in organizations of all kinds, including agencies of the U.S. Government.
Coaching and Consulting Approach With her background in systems theory and her interest in both organizational and individual development, Susan sees clients both as individuals and in the context of their organizational setting. She makes use of various assessment instruments to help isolate areas of strength as well as those needing further development. With a focus on goal setting, accountability, support and challenge, Susan encourages the growth of leadership competencies and a powerful sense of effectiveness in the leaders with whom she works. She is known for her directness, her insight, her ability to listen deeply, and to identify core issues for clients. She can then help them to develop appropriate strategies for addressing issues effectively and moving forward in their careers.
Specific Engagements Susan was part of an award-winning team (2009 PRISM Award given by Metro DC Chapter, International Coach Federation) in 2008 providing executive coaching to GS-15s and SES leaders at the U.S. Department of Commerce in two different internal organizations: International Trade Administration and the U.S. Patent and Trade Office. She continues to work with both organizations. She works with the Executive Director of a national charitable organization, focusing on leadership development and strategic planning. She worked with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, assisting an SES leader with staff development and conflict management within his organization, helping to resolve issues long existing within the group. She has provided executive coaching for U.S. Postal Service executives as well as Labor Union leaders in the area of reduction of workplace violence, conflict management and enhancing workplace climate.
Training/Educational Background Susan has a Masters in Counseling Psychology from Antioch University as well as a Masters in Social Work from Boston University, where she also served as Adjunct Faculty. She is a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) through the International Coach Federation. She is a graduate of The Coaches Training Institute and has received additional training in conflict coaching and recently completed training for Advanced Coaches in Generativity and Well Being at George Mason University. Assessments Used She is qualified to administer the Myers-Briggs Type Inventory, The Leadership Circle 360⁰ Profile™ and The Leadership Circle Climate Survey™, DiSC, Hogan Assessments, PDI ProFiler,and is familiar with many other tools used in the Federal Government. She has developed focus groups and climate surveys to help organizations better understand their challenges and their needs. |
